WINTER JAM 2009 A BIG CROWD PLEASER

The crowd for Winter Jam 2009 was really huge this year. Given the awesome lineup of music groups and no advanced ticket sales, it was not really a surprise that extremely long lines formed around the Scope. For a while it did not look good for getting into the event, but our group, and I think everyone else, managed to get in and even find seats. Next year we will need to get there at least an hour and half before the doors open.

The artists and bands this year were great. Anyone of the main acts, Francesca Battistelli, New Song, Brandon Heath, Hawk Nelson, or Toby Mac would have been worth seeing by themselves, but all together made for a spectacular show. The crowd favorite, however, seemed to be Toby Mac and most in attendance left with a new appreciation for this very talented group.

This year's WinterJam had a number of wonderful sponsors which included Holt International, which assists families with worldwide child adoptions, and Global Expeditions, which sends youth across the globe on missions.

NORFOLK SCOPE HOSTS WINTER JAM 2009 ON FEBRUARY 22, 2009

Winter Jam 2009 is coming back to Norfolk on Sunday, February 22, 2009. This time the event will be held downtown at Norfolk's Scope Arena. The event starts at 6 PM and doors open at 5PM. However, if you have been to this event before arriving about 4 PM (or earlier) is recommended. Like last year there are no advanced ticket sales and the cost is $10 cash at the door. This year's performers include: Toby Mac, Hawk Nelson, New Song, Francesca Battistelli, Brandon Heath, Stephanie Smith Pure NRG and guestspeaker Tony Nolan.
